The machine consists of a wire feed mechanism that pulls the wire from the spool, a forming mechanism that shapes the wire into the desired double wire configuration, and a cutting mechanism that cuts the wire to the desired length.

The wire is drawn from a barrel or spool and any twist is taken out by rectifying rollers, further rollers straighten out the wire and feed it into the first forming station. A winding cross and a star wheel perform the wire into a zig-zag-line. Through a conveyor channel the zig-zag wire goes into the second forming station where the binding is pre-rounded and the shape completed. The lengthened transport channel allows a turning of the binding to 180.This is important for the individual winding up of the binding elements. At the run-out, a counter reads out the produced number of loops.
